Job Title: Telecommunications Analyst/Technician

Location: Hybrid schedule in Richmond, VA

 


Job Overview

This role requires a self-driven individual with strong decision-making capabilities and well-developed skill sets. The Senior Network Analyst will work independently in the field while managing project priorities efficiently. The role includes analyzing all aspects of telecommunications construction and engineering practices, cable installation, and documentation processes.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Work in and around fiber and radio huts, generation plants, substations, data centers, crew quarters, and right-of-ways.

  • Create plans for splicing and testing OPGW and ADSS fiber optic cables.

  • Support fiber cable maintenance, relocation, and emergency restoration efforts.

  • Build and maintain relationships with various business units within the client organization.

  • Document fiber strand usage and update cable records in Circuit Vision.

  • Review and analyze optical system route redundancy.

  • Participate in maintenance window cutovers and system grooms.

  • Support storm recovery duties during disasters.

  • Work with the Transport Team to activate telecommunication services.

  • Coordinate closely with fiber splicers and provide progress updates.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications & Required Skills

  • 3-5 years of experience in telecommunications networking.

  • Strong understanding of network planning and analysis.

  • Direct experience in engineering, installation, and splicing of fiber optic cable.

  • Proficiency in advanced optical testing and result interpretation.

  • Familiarity with engineering programs such as GIS, AutoCAD, SAP, and Circuit Vision.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Strong safety awareness.

  • High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Ability to process information quickly and perform under high-stress situations.

  • Proven ability to build rapport with employees, customers, and contractors.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Ability to work independently or within a team environment.

  • Experience with word processing, Visio, spreadsheets, and GIS interfaces.

  • Familiarity with industry standards such as BICSI, EIA, TIA, or NEC.

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and field drawings.

  • Fine motor skills and ability to work in remote locations.

  • Ability to pass multi-level background checks (nuclear).

  • Proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel) and GIS software.
