Job Type: Contract

JOB DUTIES:

The successful candidate will join the Core Network Engineering and Implementation team with responsibilities for engineering client's new eNSE platform located within datacenters throughout the United States.

Being a part of the Network Build Team, you will assist with and perform implementation responsibilities and work closely with diverse Engineering teams to carry out our strategic technology goals and transition from VXLAN to the eNSE platform.

This new network leverages virtualization and software defined networking to transform how we provide products and services while maintaining our position as the industry leader.

Client is seeking a motivated and driven engineering professional who will assume responsibilities for engineering IP networking build projects and work closely with the Capacity Planning, Design and Operations teams to implement our strategic technology goals.

The candidate will work to create an environment of teamwork and cooperation with all stakeholders including: territories, edge, and design.

The Network Engineer's main responsibilities include writing technical and detailed Layer 1 equipment installation and fiber testing Method of Procedures (MOP), scheduling/tracking and correcting testing failures and working with local market team members throughout the United States to deploy and troubleshot newly installed racked routers and switches in MSCs (Mobile Switching Centers)

Develop network configurations from design models/templates by creating MOPs for Engineers to implement during network maintenance windows

Hands-on experience configuring routers, switches and related network equipment.

Preferably: Cisco Carrier Routing Systems (CRS), Cisco Network Convergence System (NCS), ASR 9K, ISR 3945, Nexus 3K, 7K, 9K, Juniper MX-480, MX-960.

Operating Systems: IOS, XR-IOS, NX-OS, JunOS.

Work remotely with local operation team members throughout the United States to deploy and troubleshoot newly installed racked routers and switches into client's data center locations

Work independently with minimum supervision and meet aggressive deployment dates and timelines

Ability to quickly adapt and learn new tasks and processes around deploying new routers and switches in a remote setting

Mentor new team members when they join the group and introduce them to all aspects of the job

Utilize automated workflows to assist with device configuration and provide feedback on improvements

The candidate will work to support Client's's strategic technology goals including the ongoing migration of core elements to the intelligent edge network

Work on engineering and deploying directional networks for Intelligent Edge including but not limited to: SAP ENSE Fabric, Access ENSE fabric, ISP, NNI and 5G connectivity

Engineer and create network configurations for the onboarding of Client's's private cloud tenants

Responsible for engineering IP edge networks at Service Aggregation Points (SAP) and Transport Aggregation Points (TAP)

Building networks for interconnection to client's Cloud Platforms (VCP) for growth, capacity and expansion

Engineering network solutions with a strong interaction with PNF and VNF applications teams

Working with underlay and overlay controllers for network creation, network modeling, and network deployments.

Leveraging plugins for network deployments across multiple virtualized OS environments.

Overseeing network builds from procurement to "In Service"

Work with peer teams to ensure new networks are built and migrated to meet KPI's and company objectives

Work collaboratively with existing team members to meet team goals

MUST HAVE SKILLS (Most Important):

Bachelor's degree or four or more years of relevant work experience

Experience with IP Layer 1-3 for Edge Networks

Hands on experience with virtualization of networks and implementing updates and changes on working devices

Functional knowledge of TCP/IP (IPv4 and IPv6)

Knowledge of spine and leaf fabric networking

Working knowledge of VXLAN and BGP

Must possess extensive knowledge of Layer 1 troubleshooting for copper and fiber cabling including Cat5/6 copper cabling and fiber types SC, LC, FC, MPO, MOP creation and implementation

In depth knowledge and expert comprehension of Command Line Interface (CLI) commands for Nokia 7750/7706/7250, Cisco 55A1,5504, 5508, 9508, CRS-16, Nexus 3k/5k/7K/9K (IOS, XE, XR, NX-OS)

Must possess the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time, stay organized/prioritize their workload, and make updates to tickets/spreadsheets/deployment schedules.

Need to be comfortable working on the phone and troubleshooting with local support personnel to correct OBM (Out of Band Management) and Ethernet/fiber cabling issues.

Have the ability to follow and implement detailed engineering design documents and join team/project calls throughout the day in various US time zones and have the ability to convey status and work updates.

Administrative skills to track and update emails, tickets, projects, and work logs.

DESIRED SKILLS:

CCNA/JNCIS or other networking certifications

Ability to work closely with others, manage the workload you are assigned, and schedule work/project manage tasks with other installation teams and groups

Ability to follow and implement detailed engineering design documents

Past experience working in a remote environment and testing newly installed switches and routers

The ability to articulate and explain you work and self through email and on the phone

Experience with MPLS Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNs

Worked with Cisco (VTS), Nokia (Nuage) or Itential (IAP), HPNA, DCNM automation tools

Solid understanding of networking-specific technologies: IPV6, L2VPN, L3VPN, OSPFv3, mp-BGP, QOS/Traffic Engineering, MPLS (LDP & TDP), inter-AS MPLS, and m-VPN

A strong ability to understand end to end call flows for deploying network services

Knowledge of or prior experience with cloud and scripting experience in Linux, Openstack, Python and virtualization

Any cloud and scripting experience i.e. Linux, Openstack, Python, automation, virtualization

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree or four or more years of relevant work experience

LOGISTICS: 40 hour work week daytime shift no overtime.

Occasional overnight maintenance support.
