Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support NASA's Sounding Rocket Operations Contract (NSROC), which is a sub-orbital space flight program located at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility (WFF), a part of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). Wallops Island, VA is a remote location.

NSROC provides suborbital launch vehicles, payload development and field operations support to NASA's Science Mission Directorate. The program enables the collection of Earth, Heliophysics and Astrophysics science.

In this role, you will be the Telemetry Engineer for sounding rocket missions. The application will support system development throughout the entire mission life cycle including launch at remote sites. Travel is required; typical travel to the remote launch site lasts 6 to 8 weeks. The position will require an individual to be living locally to support efforts on base as well as ability to support required telework. You will work on a variety of projects, typically multiple at any one time, and will require an individual able to work individually and in a team environment.

As an Electrical Engineer, Telemetry, you will be responsible for the design, testing and field operations support related to sounding rocket telemetry systems. You will be involved in research, development, design, and testing of electrical components, equipment, and systems; applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering. You will be responsible for the production and presentation of technical material in support of internal and external customer meetings.

Responsibilities Include:

Production and presentation of technical material in support of internal and external customer meetings.
Design PCM encoder matrices and measurement lists.
Development of mission telemetry requirements.
Utilize ground support equipment to test telemetry system components to include PCM encoders, RF transmitters and antennas.
Apply programming and computer application skills in the development of software in C, C , C#, and Matlab.
Contribute to the development of new engineering products or specialty products, and specifications.
Participate in technical interchange discussions with customers and experimenters.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is required
Zero to 2 years of engineering experience
Experience with electrically troubleshooting components and test equipment
Desired Qualifications:

Experience with Ground Data Systems
Experience with Networked Data Acquisition Systems
Experience with Telemetry Systems, PCM Matrices, RF

Target Salary Range

$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
