Evolver Federal is seeking an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) Lead to drive the design, implementation, and assessment of security solutions for enterprise systems for a federal client. This role involves evaluating security architectures, ensuring compliance with security policies, and mitigating risks to protect organizational assets. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in IT security, leadership experience, and a deep understanding of risk management frameworks and security engineering principles.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement secure system architectures, ensuring compliance with NIST RMF, DoD STIGs, FISMA, and other industry security standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analysis to identify and mitigate security threats.
  • Define security requirements and controls for new and existing IT systems.
  • Develop and maintain security documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs) and Security Assessment Reports (SARs).
  • Lead security engineering efforts, integrating security best practices into system development lifecycles (SDLC).
  • Collaborate with system engineers, software developers, and security analysts to implement effective security controls.
  • Provide guidance on cryptographic solutions, network security, endpoint protection, and cloud security strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with government and industry security frameworks, conducting security audits and assessments as needed.
  • Assist in incident response efforts, identifying and mitigating security breaches and vulnerabilities.
  • Stay current on emerging threats, security technologies, and best practices to enhance organizational security posture.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field
  • An Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to pass a comprehensive background check
  • 1 of the following Certifications: CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor)
  • 7 years of experience leading teams in information security, systems engineering, or a related field
  • 5 years of experience in IT security and information assurance technologies


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related field
  • An active Department of Energy Q Clearance
  • Experience in leading a team, managing projects, and providing technical guidance to junior team members
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technologies, operating systems, and security best practices.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to handle security incidents and vulnerabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with other IT teams and stakeholders.
  • Additional certifications like CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), GSLC (GIAC Security Leadership), CASP (Certified Advanced Security Professional)
