The Infrastructure Architect IV position is available in Eagan, MN with domicile considered. HOURS: 08:00 A.M. to 05:00 P.M.

SALARY RANGE: $120,980.00 - $138,605.00 USD Annually

Background Check

The Inspection Service criminal background check is conducted using United States information resources only (e.g., FBI fingerprint check, state and county checks). A criminal background check involves a 5-year inquiry for any location where the individual has resided, worked or gone to school within the United States or its territories. As a result of this limitation, the criminal background checks of individuals who have not resided in the United States or its territories for the preceding 5-years may not be considered complete. If the Inspection Service is unable to perform a complete background check because of residency outside the United States, such individuals will be ineligible for Postal employment.

FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE:

Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) architect for cloud and on-premise infrastructure strategy, design, specifications, implementations, and operation to ensure performance, reliability, and security of enterprise applications and systems. Leads the adoption, implementation, and operation of infrastructure technologies for assigned area via planning, process, procedure, automation, and optimization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Serves as a technical and SME architect in leading projects and initiatives for on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure solutions. Provides oversight, technical guidance, and expertise to professionals and other stakeholders involved in the design, implementation, and operation of cloud-based and on-premise infrastructure technologies and architecture to ensure developed solutions align with business organizational strategies and objectives. Leads research, evaluation, and assessment efforts of innovative and emerging technologies as proposed solutions and provides recommendations.
  2. Leads large scale initiatives and projects to design, implement, and operate enterprise wide IT infrastructure solutions including: physical and virtual IT hardware environments and platforms, systems, systems, databases, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, virtualization, storage, web and application servers, event streaming, APIs, containerization, and other IT software environments and platforms.
  3. Leads the design, implementation, and operation of large scale IT infrastructure solutions related to Cloud, Platform as a Service (Paas), Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (Iaas), and on-premise to be used for applications, enterprise data, and other architectures.
  4. Leads the creation, implementation, and maintenance of IT Infrastructure processes, procedures, standards, triage, designs, guides, operations, future strategies, and current state layouts using collaborative tools to share consistent knowledge, security, and reliability of IT Infrastructure technologies to stakeholders.
  5. Provides technical assistance to and collaborates with stakeholders engaged in the analysis, design, development, implementation, operation, usage, and maintenance of infrastructure solutions. Escalates significant issues to appropriate personnel for awareness.
  6. Leads the identification and resolution of issues encountered on IT systems related to analysis, design, development, implementation, operation, and usage by leading the triage through complete technical assistance, guidance, advice, tuning, modifications, communications, and reporting.
  7. Leads and approves optimized performance measurements, resiliency, and security metrics. Leads and approves processes for the evaluation of infrastructure effectiveness, including the defining and tracking of performance metrics. Develops, presents, and publishes deliverables (e.g., CPU/memory utilization) for broad stakeholder consumption.
  8. Serves as Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for contracts. Maintains relationships and ongoing communications with vendors to ensure clear expectations, appropriate prioritization, consistent service, and troubleshoot issues. Certifies invoices to ensure timely vendor payment. Provides input on budget plans for obtaining funding for contracts. Initiates contract extensions and proposals to ensure continuity of service.
