Job title: Avaya Maintenance consultant/Avaya Engineer
Location: Newark, NJ
Job summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Voice Architect or Telecom Solutions Engineer with extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-level telecom solutions. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Unified Communications, VoIP technologies, and network protocols, with a proven ability to lead teams and support large-scale operations. This role involves working with cutting-edge technologies like Cisco, Avaya, and Microsoft Teams to support and enhance communication infrastructures.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise voice solutions, including the migration of legacy systems to modern platforms such as Avaya PBX and Microsoft Teams Direct Routing.
  • Manage and provide technical leadership to a team of engineers and technicians, supporting over 10,000 users, including executive-level stakeholders.
  • Oversee NOC and Helpdesk operations, ensuring proactive network monitoring and quality of service for VOIP systems.
  • Design and deploy contact center solutions using platforms like Cisco WebEx Contact Center.
  • Implement and maintain network monitoring tools such as Nectar, IR Prognosis, and SolarWinds for voice and data infrastructure performance.
  • Provide escalation support for Unified Communication technologies, including CUCM Call Manager, Cisco Unity voicemail, and WebEx Calling.
  • Collaborate with project teams on responding to RFPs/RFIs and develop pre-validated design packages to accelerate customer proposal processes.
  • Ensure compliance with telecom industry standards and government regulations.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Voice/Telecom Engineer, or Unified Communication Specialist.
  • Strong expertise in Cisco VoIP technologies, including CUCM, WebEx, Voicemail, and VLAN management.
  • Experience leading teams and managing large-scale user support environments.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Nectar, SolarWinds, IR Prognosis, and other network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong understanding of routing and switching protocols.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and troubleshoot telecom solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of working with C-level executives and technical staff alike.
