The Director - DT, Vendor Management and PMO provides direction, guidance and leadership to a centralized team managing multiple fields. Key areas of focus include Vendor Management, Portfolio Project Management, and Reporting & Analytics. This critical position reports to the Managing Director of DT PMO Delivery Services. The Director of Business Management and Operations is responsible for the following teams:

1. Vendor Management Organization - Leads DT suppliers by conducting risk management, service level oversight, relationship management and contract compliance to ensure suppliers meet performance expectations and operational standards.

2. Project Management Office (PMO) - Serves as the single point of contact for infrastructure teams to coordinate cross-functional activities to ensure infrastructure projects are delivered to meet cybersecurity and digital risk policies and standards and compliance is operationalized.

3. Process Improvement - Drives process excellence, enhancing existing processes for optimization while aligning with strategic business objectives and ensuring financial responsibility.

4. Reporting and Analytics - Produces strategic leadership reports, dashboards, metrics, and other data visualization solutions to communicate findings, aiding team members and leaders in making informed financial decisions.

This position is Hybrid in either Chicago or Houston.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise strategic technology supplier relationships to ensure suppliers are mitigating risks and meeting United standards for operational resiliency and reliability.
  • Establish and continuously improve supplier management processes partnering with DT application owners, infrastructure, procurement, legal, finance, cybersecurity, and others to run all aspects of the supplier process from onboarding to renewal to ongoing supplier performance management.
  • Continuously explore ways to enhance existing and prospective relationships through supplier evaluation.
  • Deliver critical supplier management functions including:
  • Contract reviews, where needed.
  • Establishing a regular cadence of supplier business reviews (quarterly business reviews)
  • Establishing vendor scorecards and vendor accountability measures.
  • Risk management during critical renewals.
  • Serve as an issue point and liaison between the supplier and application owners and infrastructure for key projects or issues.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends to innovate and identify new opportunities.
  • Coach/mentor a team of Sr. Managers, Project Managers, Process Architects, Analysts to achieve and improve results.
  • Effectively implement PMO standard methodologies to maintain better cross functionality for successful project execution and delivery.
  • Provide strategic support and advise to leadership on overall planning, prioritization, execution, and delivery of projects within the cybersecurity portfolio including advising on solution options, risks, costs versus benefits, and impact to business processes and operations.
  • Actively seek ways to improve project tools and processes by enhancing user experience and providing strategic reports/KPIs.
  • Demonstrates a continuous improvement approach, including hands-on participation in projects to develop continuous improvement methodology skills.
  • Collaborates with internal customers in DT and business to support, maintain and drive continuous improvement. Continuously work to improve and update the business capability models.
  • Lead teams to designs and implement insight-generating analytics and reporting to support leaders and strategic programs.
  • Act as key point of contact from senior leaders, peers, and cross functional teams, translating technical information into leadership reports and dashboards for executive leadership reviews.
  • Lead initiatives to identify inefficiencies in current processes and develop strategies to enhance them, including analyzing workflows, capturing collaborator input, and implementing changes to streamline operations.
  • Conduct financial analyses to assess the cost-effectiveness of existing processes and proposed improvements. Find opportunities to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and enhance return on investment while maintaining quality standards.
  • Design and develop customized dashboards, reports, and data visualization solutions to effectively communicate financial insights to team members and leaders.
  • Interpret complex financial data and metrics to identify key drivers, risks, and areas for improvement.

Qualifications

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree; Computer Science, Engineering or Business Administration.
  • 10+ years of work experience in large and sophisticated corporate IT environments or equivalent consulting experience.
  • Understanding of performance management, business consulting, project management, and applicable technology.
  • Must have worked within a multi-disciplined, cross-functional technical organization with matrixes reporting relationship.
  • Experience with fiscal management, strategic planning, performance management, business consulting, project management, and applicable technology.
  • Experience in driving information technology strategy and planning. Creating and working with business partners to create a sustainable Business and IT strategic plan and a planning process.
  • Experience in IT infrastructure, risk management, cybersecurity, application development, finance, procurement, multiple major project and systems implementations as a senior project manager and design, development, and deployment of an original solution delivery process.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft products, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.

  • Master's degree; Computer Science, Engineering or Business Administration, or MBA.
  • Knowledge of the business area's products and processes; experience in the strategic use of technology in leading and growing a business.
  • Technical knowledge and ability to express complex technical concepts in terms that are understandable to the business.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills; a proven track record in new concept development for various projects and complex technical plans.
  • Understanding of how IT affects an organization and ability to link it to redesigned business processes.
  • Experience in travel industry, especially airline related.
  • Experience in establishing ITIL services / service catalog.
  • PMP Certification.
