Summary
The AOC is seeking proposals from prospective Offerors to provide one (1) Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator consultant. The Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator will manage and optimize the AOC's Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. The resource will be responsible for ensuring system stability, security, and performance while supporting a range of enterprise applications. This role requires advanced expertise in Linux administration, automation, troubleshooting, and security best practices.
Resource Minimum Qualifications
1. The Offeror shall propose a resource that meet the following minimum qualifications:
a. Bachelor's degree, or postgraduate degree, in engineering, computer science, or related field (as determined by the AOC).
b. Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator.
(1) Certification must be issued by Red Hat and include the resource's valid certification number.
2. The AOC prefers the Offeror's proposed resource to have the following qualifications:
a. Ten (10) or more years of experience as a Red Hat system administrator.
b. Ten (10) or more years of experience administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.
c. Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in the Information Technology (IT) field.
Job Description (Scope of Work)
1. Offeror proposed resource shall be responsible for the following:
d. Installing, configuring, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across development, testing, and production environments.
e. Performing system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening to ensure compliance with industry standards.
f. Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
g. Implementing automation scripts using Ansible, Bash, or Python to streamline system administration tasks.
h. Configuring and maintaining Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and other Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) ecosystem tools.
i. Collaborating with security teams to ensure systems are protected against vulnerabilities and comply with security policies.
j. Maintaining and optimizing storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
k. Supporting application teams by providing guidance on best practices for Linux-based deployments.
l. Maintaining documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
m. Participating in on-call support and incident resolution activities as required.
n. Setup Network File Server (NFS) and mount points.
o. Configuring Chron jobs for both systems and applications.
OFFEROR RESOURCE(S) SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, & CAPABILITIES
1. Offeror shall propose a resource possessing the following preferred skills, experience, and capabilities:
p. Experience with:
(1) Working in a complex networked system environment with strong networking.
(2) Administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.
(3) Administering systems including, but not limited to, the applications below:
i Oracle WebLogic Servers
ii Oracle Database Servers
iii Progress 4GL/Database Servers/OpenEdge
iv Apache Web Servers
v vSphere hosted RHEL Servers.
vi Rubrik backup systems.
vii Oracle Database backups.
viii PeopleSoft
ix Mobius
x Elastic Search
xi Oracle OBI
xii CVS (Concurrent Version System)
(4) Red Hat performance tuning.
(5) Load balancing, partitioning, back-up/recovery, and disaster recovery.
(6) Working in an environment that requires 24/7 system availability.
(7) Application development.
(8) Red Hat Support.
(9) Electronic Imaging Support.
q. Ability to:
(1) Work in a team environment.
(2) Communicate effectively with internal and external personnel.
(3) Demonstrate leadership skills.
(4) Interface with users and helpdesk for day-to-day support.
(5) Provide Backup/recovery and networking methodologies.
(6) Troubleshoot at the Operating System (OS), database, and application levels.
r. Knowledge of:
(1) Red Hat administration including configuration and tuning.
A. PLACE OF PERFORMANCE
1. Work shall be performed in a hybrid setting each week, Monday through Friday, as follows:
a. Two (2) days remote at a suitable off-site location selected by the Offeror/Offeror Resource(s).
(1) The AOC reserves the right to determine an off-site location is not suitable (e.g., crowded public space with distracting background noise during meetings).
b. Three (3) days on site at the Maryland Judiciary Information Systems, 189 Harry S Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
2 On-site support may be required. As designated by the Judiciary's Chief Technology Officer, the proposed resource(s) must be able to report on-site within twenty-four (24) hours after notification.
a. If required to report, the Offeror Resource shall report to Maryland Judiciary Information Systems, 189 Harry S Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
