About the Role:
This role requires an experienced leader with a deep understanding of healthcare IT, EPIC modules, and project management best practices. The selected candidate will oversee the full project lifecycle, working closely with stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition to the EPIC platform.
This is a high-visibility leadership role that demands strong healthcare leadership experience, especially managing IT teams in hospitals or clinics. The role does not involve hands-on technical work but requires comprehensive knowledge of EPIC systems and modules to effectively lead and direct the team and project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight:
- Lead the full migration to EPIC, from planning and requirements gathering to go-live and post-implementation optimization.
- Develop a detailed project roadmap, including timelines and milestones.
- EPIC Module Expertise:
- Ensure effective implementation and integration of EPIC modules such as:
- Clinical (Ambulatory, Inpatient, Radiology, Lab, Pharmacy)
- Financial (Billing, Claims Management, Revenue Cycle Management)
- Administrative (Scheduling, Patient Access, Reporting)
- Integration Modules like Interfaces (HL7) and interoperability tools.
- Collaborate with EPIC-certified consultants to ensure all modules are tailored to meet the organization s operational needs.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Act as the primary liaison between the healthcare organization, EPIC consultants, and other third-party vendors.
- Facilitate clear communication to align expectations and ensure project goals are met.
- Healthcare Leadership:
- Provide leadership to cross-functional teams, including IT staff, clinical leaders, and administrative personnel.
- Ensure alignment with the healthcare organization s strategic priorities and compliance standards.
- Strategic Decision-Making:
- Analyze project requirements and direct strategic decisions for successful implementation.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Budget and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage a comprehensive project budget.
- Ensure optimal resource allocation, balancing costs and project deliverables.
- Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure adherence to all relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, Meaningful Use, and data security standards.
- Post-Implementation Support:
- Oversee the stabilization and optimization phase post go-live.
- Collect feedback to identify areas for improvement and support user adoption.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor s degree in Healthcare Administration, IT, or a related field. A Master s degree is highly preferred.
- Experience:
- 10+ years of experience leading large-scale healthcare IT projects, with significant exposure to EPIC systems.
- Proven leadership in healthcare IT environments, including hospitals, clinics, or healthcare networks.
- Certifications:
- EPIC certification(s) (preferred but not mandatory).
- PMP, PRINCE2, or other project management certifications (highly desirable).
- Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of EPIC modules and their implementation across clinical, financial, and administrative domains.
- Strong leadership, team management, and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional communication skills to liaise with diverse stakeholders, from clinical staff to executives.
- Experience managing budgets, timelines, and resource allocations effectively.
