Description:
Job Title: Infrastructure Engineer (Contingent)

Location: Charlotte, NC

Job Description: As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a crucial role in consulting on and participating in moderately complex initiatives within Infrastructure Engineering. You will contribute to large-scale planning and deliverables, analyze and resolve infrastructure challenges, and collaborate with client personnel to meet deliverables. Your solid understanding of function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements will be essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Utilize hands-on technical knowledge to engineer, operate, and support systems and platforms in the Innovation Labs.
  • Apply exceptional technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to address complex technical issues.
  • Ensure continuous uptime, stability, and compliance for all Innovation Labs systems and environments.
  • Develop and utilize scripting and infrastructure as code to automate support for on-premises, hybrid, and cloud infrastructures.
  • Design and implement security best practices and zero trust principles across all lab systems and platforms.
  • Collaborate with project managers and development partners to ensure effective delivery, deployment, operation, monitoring, and support of internal customers and applications.

  • Strong desire to provide daily operational and engineering support for a wide array of technology, including physical hardware, operating systems, and software platforms.

Technical Expertise:
  • Experience in configuring, maintaining, supporting, troubleshooting, and problem-solving in core infrastructure domains: Compute, Storage, Networking, Virtualization.
  • Proven track record in engineering and operationalizing cross-platform operating systems and platforms, including:
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2019, 2022
    • Microsoft Windows 10/11
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, 9
  • Advanced experience in deploying and managing Microsoft Domain Services and related technologies:
    • Active Directory Domain Services
    • Group Policy Creation/Management
    • Desired State Image, Configuration, and Drift Management
    • System Center / Endpoint Configuration Manager
    • Windows Update Services
    • Windows DNS
  • Operational and configuration knowledge of virtualization and container technologies, especially VMware vSphere Suite and VMware NSX.
  • Experience with automation scripting and Infrastructure as Code tools, including Terraform, PowerShell, and BASH.
  • Administration and engineering experience within cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform, including:
    • Tenant/organization level management
    • Hybrid Connectivity
    • Microsoft Entra ID
    • Google Workspace

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to be onsite in Charlotte, NC, as required.
  • Ability to lift 75+ lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to work within a server room to rack/stack/cable infrastructure.
  • Ability to navigate above server racks or below sub-floors.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite administration and configuration.
  • Experience with creating and using API endpoints.
  • Engineering certifications in Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with OpenShift and OpenShift Container Service.
  • Experience with C# or other higher-level object-oriented languages.

Required Experience:
  • 4+ years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work, consulting experience, training, military experience, or education.
