Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Engineering Technician VI to join our dynamic team. As a crucial part of our research and development efforts, you will independently plan and accomplish complete projects or studies of broad scope and complexity or serve as an expert in a narrow aspect of a particular field of engineering, e.g., environmental factors affecting electronic engineering. Individual may supervise or train and be assisted by lower level technicians. Completed work is reviewed for compliance with overall project objectives.
Work is performed on site in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares designs and specifications for various navigation systems and components.
- Plans approach to resolve design problems, recommends new design techniques, and assure compatibility of design with other parts of the system.
- Designs and coordinates test set-ups and experiments to prove or disprove the feasibility of preliminary design.
- Improves the performance of the equipment by in-depth technical analysis.
- May advise equipment users on redesign to solve unique operational deficiencies.
- Arranges for fabrication of pilot models and determines test procedures and design of special test equipment.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Engineering Technology, or similar; and sixteen (16) years of practical experience in US Navy Electronics.
- Ten (10) years of experience, to include: installation of such equipment.
- Six (6) of experience, to include: design, preparation and modification of engineering documents, and drawings.
- Ten (10) years of experience with Navigation Systems, of which 7 must have been performed within the last 9 years. Demonstrated communication and organizational skills.

Required Security Clearance:
- ship required.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
- Active Interim Secret or final Secret clearance is preferred.
