Job Details

The Payroll Specialist is a full-time, exempt position that processes entity-wide payrolls.
This role performs all payroll-related activities and all accounting functions related to recording payroll transactions/processes for multiple entities.
This role compiles and prepares all payroll data and directs the computation of differential pay according to company policy. The Payroll Specialist works with the Payroll Manager regarding compliance with company policies and government regulations concerning payroll procedures.
The Payroll Specialist must understand multi-state jurisdictions for payroll processing (multiple states and cities).
Responsibilities
Prepare and process accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll records, payroll taxes, and payroll deductions Audit ABI time and attendance records for payroll processing
Prepare and process NHL and AHL player payrolls on a semi-monthly schedule
Support an environment that encourages, values, and delivers outstanding customer service
Ensure appropriate oversight and controls are in place for all processes and outputs to meet external, internal, and audit requirements
Analyze and audit payrolls for accuracy Implement payroll corrections for monetary and non-monetary activities, such as the separation of records for specific programs, etc.
Audit Federal, State, and local compliance requirements and ensure overall compliance
Reconcile quarter/year-end payroll data (Quarterly Taxes/W2s)
Prepare and validate the annual NHL Schedule 18 (Staffing and Wages)
Other duties as assigned Multiple Entity Accounting Responsibilities
Prepare and input payroll accounting monthly journals for multiple accounting systems on different platforms
Oversee various payroll balance sheet account analyses, aging, and recommendations
Support the accounting and finance management team with ad hoc reporting related to payroll and other financials
Manage the timeliness of recording payroll journals for the monthly close process and accurate financials
Other duties as assigned
Skills
Bachelor s Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum of 2-4 years of payroll accounting experience
Able to maintain the utmost confidentiality
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Self-motivated and possess strong organizational skills
Detail-oriented
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains and Business Central preferred
Experience with automated business solutions/knowledge preferred ADP Smart Compliance knowledge preferred Workday and ADP Workforce Now preferred
Flexible schedule and able to work nights and weekends when required
Knowledge of benefit and arena operations helpful Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Education: Some College, No Degree Experience Required: 2+ Years
