Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to join our Tactical Mobile (TacMobile) Systems team supporting the NIWC Atlantic TacMobile IPT with the sustainment of the existing fielded configurations as well as developing and fielding future capabilities for the TacMobile sites (USN, RAAF and FMS customers). This individual will lead our team of professionals who provide advanced engineering and scientific expertise for the development, testing, integration, and maintenance of TacMobile systems.

  • System Design and Development:
    • Lead the design, development, and engineering of TacMobile systems and subsystems.
    • Conduct system architecture design, component selection, and integration planning to meet TacMobile requirements.
  • Technical Leadership and Guidance:
    • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams involved in TacMobile program activities.
    • Mentor junior engineers and scientists to enhance their skills and capabilities in TacMobile system development.
  • Integration and Testing:
    • Oversee the integration, testing, and evaluation of TacMobile systems to ensure functionality, interoperability, and compliance with specifications.
    • Conduct performance testing and analysis to validate system performance and identify areas for improvement for the TacMobile Program of Record (POR) and the three configurations.
  • Technical Documentation and Reporting:
    • Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and engineering reports.
    • Provide regular progress reports and presentations to TacMobile program management and stakeholders.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
    • Identify technical risks and vulnerabilities associated with TacMobile systems.
    • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure system reliability, security, and resilience.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including program managers, technicians, and stakeholders, to achieve TacMobile program objectives.
    • Communicate technical concepts and findings effectively to non-technical stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation Risk Management:
    • Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices related to TacMobile systems and military communication technologies.
    • Drive innovation and propose enhancements to optimize TacMobile system performance and capability.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead a team of engineering and scientific professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment within the TacMobile Engineering and Scientific team.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills
    The successful candidate must have:
    • BS degree in Engineering or Physical Science. For Software Engineer only
    • The individual must complete the following certifications within one and a half year after assuming duties: Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) (Previously known as Certified Software Engineering Professional (CSEP)), or with COR approval complete a vendor/platform specific certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), Microsoft Certified Applications Developer (MCAD), Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Sun Certified Professional (SCP), Red Hat Certification Program (RHCP), CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), or other). Fifteen (15) years of experience in support of Command & Control (C2) and/or Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Platforms to include: Technology Analysis and Assessment, Design Definition, Development of Systems Specification, Systems Analysis, Systems Architecture, Systems/Equipment Integration, Test & Evaluation Criteria, and Logistics support. Note: Experience may be concurrent.

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
    • Master's degree preferred.
    • Professional Engineer License.
    • Experience with Foreign Military Sales and Foreign Disclosure requirements.
    • Familiarity with ITAR and Export Control.

    Pay Information
    Full-Time Salary Range: $147300 - $250400

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
