The Role: Xylem seeks to hire a Lead Tools Engineer to work with our Network Operations Center and provide support and improvement to our monitoring and surveillance tools.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
  • Provide input for NOC integration of new applications and new strategies for monitoring and response.
  • Continuous improvement on NOC monitoring tools and solutions, including alert enrichment and event correlation.
  • Responsible for integrity of the NOC monitoring tools.
  • Work with new application owners to integrate solution with NOC tools and monitoring standards.
  • Manage own workload of tasks and projects as assigned by the NOC Director.
  • Contribute to outage Post-Mortem discussions and documentation.
  • Good analytical and debugging skills, strong software/OS aptitude, a meticulous approach to analyzing and resolving technical problems
  • Has knowledge and experience to maintain technical processes/documentation and automations/scripts
  • Great Customer Service Skills.
  • A self-starter capable of taking initiative.
  • Work cross functionally with other Internal teams.
  • Own and manage escalated support cases.
  • Log and document all issues in our issue tracking system, updating cases as needed until resolved.
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities.


Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

(Minimal education & experience, essential skills & abilities and required license/certification to perform this job.)
  • Must be able and willing to work flexible shifts, including nights/weekends
  • This position requires a four-year college degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in IT support / Desktop Support
  • Experience with monitoring/surveillance tools (BigPanda, SolarWinds, DataDog).
  • Familiar with scripting languages (Python/Go/Perl/Ruby).
  • Strong operating systems knowledge (Linux/Windows/VMware).
  • Understanding of cloud technologies (AWS/Azure).
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with ticketing systems (JIRA/Salesforce/Remedy).
  • History with document collaboration tools (Confluence/Wiki).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to adapt and work in a fast pace environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of engineers to meet aggressive goals with high quality standards


Salary range:
$105,000.00 - $189,000.00
