Job Details

Cell Manufacturing at Tesla is looking for a highly-motivated engineer to contribute to implementing and sustaining Industrial Engineering principles to the total manufacturing process of our cutting-edge Energy Products at Reno/Sparks Campus Nevada, located in the Tahoe region of Northern Nevada. Through a detailed understanding of the factory objectives and extensive collaboration with internal and external teams, you will help optimize our manufacturing and material flow process. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Tesla's world class manufacturing facility in Nevada. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work on critical subsystems of an incredibly exciting product.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of Industrial Engineers and Technicians
  • Manage capacity planning standards for all manufacturing lines
  • Collaborate with operations, management, and stakeholder teams to optimize staffing and maximize operational efficiency
  • Assess current labor productivity and performance metrics, analyze workforce data, and forecast labor needs based on operational demands
  • Develop and implement labor plans that align with operational goals and budget constraints
  • Define optimization models for scenarios like inventory, job scheduling, material requirements, and material flow
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing functions to enhance safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth
  • Provide feedback and optimize site layouts for production, material flow, construction, and facilities
  • Develop and maintain process and manufacturing data and plans, applying PDCA, Continuous Improvement, and Lean methodologies
  • Standardize metrics and problem-solving tools

Requirements
  • Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to drive projects with diverse teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience quantifying and solving ambiguous problems at a systems level
  • Extensive detailed analysis experience to make data-driven decisions and summarize results for executives
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with layouts in AutoCAD
  • Experience designing greenfield facility layouts and/or manufacturing processes is a plus
  • Experience with discrete event simulation software (ARENA, Flex Sim, etc.)
