Job Description
The Manager of Network Services Is responsible for the vision, leadership, direction & strategies associated with the global planning, delivery, management and support of networking solutions, unified communications solutions, and Network Operations that support CommScope s business goals, objectives, strategies, and operations. Collaborates with the business and IT peer technical teams to holistically engineer high quality infrastructure solutions in support of business initiatives. Ensure service/support and design compliance with approved CommScope and IT practices, standards, procedures, and policies. Develop standards, policies and procedures to continually improve the network infrastructure and services that IT delivers.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead strategic global network services planning to achieve business goals by prioritizing initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future networking technologies and services. Including current efforts around 802.11, 5G, edge computing, Cloud, SD-WAN, and Automation/Orchestration.
- Build, coach and manage, and sustain a departmental culture of teamwork, collaboration, customer focus and operational excellence.
- Provide professional leadership, staff development, recruitment, retention, and tasking for the team.
- Identify and leverage key performance indicators to assess network performance
- Drive continuous advancements in network operations and engineering through process improvement and automation/orchestration.
- Develop and communicate strategies and plans to staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders.
- Develop, implement, maintain, and oversee policies, procedures, and associated plans for system administration, architecture, and operations based on industry-standard best practices.
- Define and communicate plans, procedures, policies, and standards for the organization for acquiring, implementing, and operating new systems, equipment, software, and other technologies.
- Ensure network security, health, availability, and reliability through operational monitoring.
- Work closely with IT Security department to fully secure information, computer, network, and processing systems.
- Manage the administration of all networking, perimeter Security, and unified communications systems and their corresponding or associated software.
- Develop, track, and control the annual operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing, and operations.
- Creatively and independently provide resolution to infrastructure incidents and problems in a cost-effective manner.
- Manage projects and special assignments within the department and conduct presentations to management on those assignments.
- Prioritize staff workloads and manage resources for optimal performance to achieve departmental goals and to meet business needs/objectives.
- Respond to highly complex and technical user service requests/inquiries that involve problem recognition, research, isolation and resolution.
- Perform research and analysis of networking technologies and services for the purposes of assisting management in decisions regarding the acquisition of new equipment, software, and services to determine which would best meet company needs. Assists in the acquisition of new equipment.
- Assist in developing and enhancing cooperative interdepartmental and business relationships and communications.
- Creates an environment which encourages people to think, behave, take action, control work and make decisions autonomously to attain clear goals.
- Takes personal responsibility for making tough decisions, meeting commitments and ensuring expected results are achieved.
- Develop and manage action plans to address audit findings; coordinate corrective action plans with impacted functional areas; and follow-up to ensure compliance.
- Promote and oversee strategic networking relationships between internal resources and external entities, including government, vendors, and partner organizations.
- Remain informed on trends and issues in the industry, including current and emerging technologies.
- Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related curriculum such as Information Technology.
- 15+ years of experience working on critical, large-scale complex networks.
- Demonstrable track record for developing, leading, and managing high performing global teams in a complex organization.
- Expertise in SD-WAN, Ansible, Python, or other automation and orchestration applications.
- Solid understanding of networking in Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, or other similar cloud environments.
- Ability to work effectively with a team or those outside the formal line of authority to accomplish organizational goals; taking actions that respect the needs and contributions of others; contributing to and accepting consensus.
Preferred
- Expertise in infrastructure and application monitoring strategies and solution supporting on-prem and cloud-based infrastructure and applications.
