We are seeking a Senior Manager, SAP PLM - Specification Management, to lead and oversee the implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of the Specification Management module within SAP Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) for our organization. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving digital transformation within product data management, working closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, Engineering, Quality, and IT. The Senior Manager will ensure the integrity, governance, and effectiveness of product specifications throughout the lifecycle from design to production.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership & Strategy:

o Lead the SAP PLM Specification Management team, providing guidance, mentorship, and setting the direction for successful implementation and usage of SAP PLM for product specification data management.

o Develop and execute strategies to enhance the specification management capabilities within SAP, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.

o Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for Specification Management and work closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into SAP PLM solutions.
  • SAP PLM System Management:

o Oversee the administration, configuration, and customization of SAP PLM Specification Management tools and modules.

o Ensure the system supports key business functions such as Recipe Development, Engineering Change Management (ECM), Engineering Record (ER), Bill of Materials (BOM), and product compliance.

o Work with IT and SAP consultants to manage the integration of SAP PLM with other enterprise systems, ensuring seamless data flow between different modules.
  • Process Improvement:

o Identify opportunities to streamline and improve specification management processes across product development and manufacturing.

o Define and document best practices for using SAP PLM to manage product specifications, ensuring high data integrity and accessibility.

o Lead initiatives to automate workflows and increase efficiency, leveraging SAP PLM tools to improve time-to-market for products.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:

o Work with PDM PLM teams to ensure alignment of product specification data across departments.

o Act as the primary point of contact for specification-related issues and system queries, providing solutions and troubleshooting as necessary.

o Collaborate with external vendors or third-party service providers for additional system configurations, enhancements, and upgrades.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance:

o Ensure SAP PLM Specification Management complies with industry standards, regulations, and internal policies, including quality management, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.

o Manage version control, audit trails, and approval workflows to maintain full traceability and documentation of specifications and changes.

o Implement and monitor controls to ensure that product specifications meet quality and regulatory standards.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in SAP PLM implementation and support, preferably within the Biotech / Pharmaceutical industry; 2-5 years in architect role(s). Proven experience in managing and leading SAP PLM teams in complex, large-scale environments.

Skills & Competencies:
  • In-depth knowledge of SAP PLM, particularly the Specification Management, Recipe Development and WWI Reports modules/functions (e.g., SAP PLM in S/4HANA).
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end Product Lifecycle Management, Change Management, Process Routes, BOM, and related business processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve technical and process-related challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing enterprise-level projects, including system upgrades, rollouts, and integrations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex ideas to senior leadership.

The salary range for this position is: $169,320.00 - $219,120.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
