Job Details

Resource 1 is in need of a Sr. Data Engineer for a full-time/ permanent position with our client in Naperville, IL. This position requires 3 days/week onsite in Naperville, IL (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays), so candidates must be local or willing to relocate to the Chicagoland area to be onsite from day one (client can offer relocation assistance). Our client is an employee-owned company with excellent benefits, growth opportunities and profit-sharing bonus. This role will primarily focus on AWS (70%) with the remaining work focused on the MS BI stack (30%).

Responsibilities:

  • Define and deliver data engineering needs by turning data into actionable information, leveraging on-prem and cloud technologies.
  • Design and develop scalable data pipelines across on-premise and cloud data repositories.
  • Pull data from Postgres and SQL Server to migrate to
  • Create and modify jobs in AWS and modify SSIS packages and logic in SQL Server.
  • Create data flow diagrams and document source-to-target mapping.
  • Maintain the data warehouse performance by optimizing batch processing through parallelization, performance tuning, aggregations, etc.
  • Assist with data visualization/ reporting as needed for their self-service model, pulling data from Manhattan WMS.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience.
  • Experience with AWS and its associated array of offerings (Glue, Redshift, Athena, S3, Spectrum, PySpark, Data Migration Services - DMS).
  • Strong experience with Python and C#.
  • Experience with the Microsoft BI stack (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, T-SQL).
  • Experience with Operation Data Stores, Enterprise Data Warehouses and Data Marts.
  • Strong experience with BI and data warehousing design principles and best practices including multi-dimensional modelling (star schemas, snowflakes, de-normalized models, handling slow-changing dimensions, etc.).
  • Experience collaborating with a development team with established source control (GIT).
  • Understanding of data modeling (conceptual, logical and physical)
  • A background in supply chain/ logistics would be a plus.
