Software Engineer II

Description

• Participating in a fast-paced Agile development environment
• Assisting in designing, modifying, and developing code, primarily in Java
• Developing code to integrate new data sources into existing and new displays
• Making recommendations for new functionality or enhancements to existing functionality
• Participating in project meetings to update stakeholders on status
• Participating in planning meetings to project timelines of software development and integration tasks
• Providing support during system testing to troubleshoot and resolving issues
• Gaining familiarity with the system in order to troubleshoot hardware issues as well as software issues
• Providing input for application and system documentation
• Interacting with other team members through code reviews, design discussions, and UI design activities
• Leveraging experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• Participating in full software lifecycle support to include requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit testing as well as integration and test

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or similar disciplines
• 2+ (two plus) years' experience in Java software development in Windows and Linux environments
• Experience developing engaging and intuitive user interfaces
• Demonstrable object-oriented design (OOD) skills and use of design patterns
• Experience installing and configuring systems and frameworks

Desired Skills

• Familiarity with hardware-software integration (CAN bus, sensor APIs, etc.) a strong plus
• Experience developing client-server implementations
• Experience with the Atlassian product suite
• Experience building network-focus aplications
• Experience with Maven, Spring, Javascript, and JavaFX
• Experience with IntelliJ and GIT
• Ability to work in a team environment and follow software engineering practices
• Strong analytical skills
• Experience working with SQL databases
• Experience with system administration in Windows and Linux environments
