Overview
We are seeking a full-time Aircraft Systems Engineer 1 - Systems Safety in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the aircraft system safety assessment process and generating the required analyses in support of Garmin STC projects.

We are seeking a full-time Aircraft Systems Engineer 1 - Systems Safety in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the aircraft system safety assessment process and generating the required analyses in support of Garmin STC projects.
Essential Functions
- Interface with Hardware, Software and EMC groups to ensure appropriate design assurance levels are considered
- Assist in developing draft safety analysis in support of TIA issuance
- Assist in performing Functional Hazard Assessments of proposed Garmin STC installations
- Assist in performing qualitative analysis, FMEA, Fault Tree
- Analysis and particular risk/common cause analyses as required to certify the STC installations
- Coordinate with internal Garmin groups to communicate safety assessment requirements
- Assist in generating compliance statements for 23.1309/25.1309 and other regulations that require system safety substantiation in support of Garmin STC projects
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Familiar with general aviation and basic avionics operation/ installation
- Basic use of software specific to job functions (Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, FaultTree+, etc.)
- Basic understanding of avionics, electrical/mechanical design, installation and certification
- Must be detail-oriented, work proactively and effectively with direct supervision, and can complete tasks in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
- Demonstrates strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
- Previous work or internship experience with aircraft and general aviation products
