Cybersecurity Analyst

Position Summary:
The Cybersecurity Analyst provides guidance and security subject matter expertise through assessment, review, and documentation of system security implementations. The Cybersecurity Analyst has experience working with developers, end users, and organizations to review security implementations and coordinate with various security and architecture stakeholders to identify and meet Federally mandated security policies and requirements (e.g. FISMA, FedRAMP, TIC). The Cybersecurity Analyst is tasked with handling requests from the agency Enterprise Security Architecture lead and guiding the completion of these tasks with support from the various other security SMEs. Analyst must have experience with reviewing and critically evaluating cloud security architectures (e.g. Azure, AWS, SaaS) and must be able to quickly learn the various operating environments within VA as systems are migrated to cloud hosted infrastructures. The Cybersecurity Analyst writes or assists in the development of policy documents, security artifacts, and architectural viewpoints. The ideal candidate will be able to comfortably analyze an architecture by identifying necessary security requirements and subsequently identifying weaknesses or gaps in security implementations. The Cybersecurity Analyst will be required to work independently as well as with other team members through a multitude of projects, often under strict timelines. Ultimately, the Cybersecurity Analyst seeks to ensure that the security of cloud systems at VA is maintained throughout the enterprise.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze architectures (Enterprise and System)
- Collaborate with internal SMEs as well as high level Federal employees to develop and implement effective strategies
- Evaluate security implementations and provide expert risk assessment
- Identify all relevant requirements and evaluate systems based on compliance with those requirements
- Create processes for reviewing and approving security architectures
- Identify policies and processes that need to be updated to adapt to cloud hosting (e.g. TIC 3.0, FedRAMP)
- Work with compliance teams to ensure security is maintained through cloud adoption
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure cutting edge expertise is provided throughout the system security lifecycle
- Oversee the security implementation during modernization of systems
- Assist with developing various security artifacts, architectural documents, and deliverables to provide well formulated guidance to a variety of teams
- Provide expertise in IT architecture and creating diagrams, white papers, frameworks, and documentation with all components that comprise IT systems including network topology, etc.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor s degree or higher in a business or technical discipline required. 7 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
- 4 years of relevant experience
Minimum Qualifications
- VA or other Federal Government experience strongly preferred
- Experience with either Business Intelligence/metrics, DevSecOps, or Azure
- Proven experience as a security analyst or similar role
- Familiarity with project management or Agile frameworks is a bonus
- Ability to critically review documents and architectures to analyze and provide enhancements
- Working knowledge of various cloud infrastructures (e.g. AWS, Azure)
- Experience with Architectural Frameworks (e.g. DoDAF) a strong plus
- Experience working in the Federal space
- Excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to critically
- Willingness to learn and strong ability to research
- Strong organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- CISSP or other similar security certifications are strongly preferred but not required.
- High standards, results oriented, self-driven, and committed to delivering high quality security expertise are all key qualities of an ideal candidate.
