Position: Sr. Network Engineer
Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid)
12+ Months contract
Sr. Network Engineer is to provide highly available and high performing network engineered solutions for our internal customers. The Sr. Network Engineer is responsible for the design process and facilitating the installation of the design. The candidate must be well versed with the advanced engineering of data networking to include core network infrastructure, multiprotocol routers, multi-layer access and distribution switches, network security devices along with knowledge of how CAT6A copper and fiber optic cabling interconnect.

Pay Range: $50 - $55 Hourly
The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. - Detailed knowledge of IP and Ethernet Based Data Network Technology. Engineering design concepts & fundamentals to include network security devices, multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches.
- Cisco multiprotocol router and multilayer switching experience is required.
- Strong understanding of Network Security.
- Experience working in an environment subject to regulatory compliance.
- Experience with supporting an enterprise network at a Utility company.
- Cisco Nexus platform experience.
- Cisco SDWAN design and deployment.
- Effective computer skills including detailed knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Products to include Visio, Power Point, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Demonstrate strong technical documentation skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Experienced in developing project estimates.
What are the top (at least 3 if possible) "must have" skill sets (technical/functional) which are required?
- Experience with utility substation network designs.
- Cisco DNA Center experience.
- Experience and knowledge of DC power
What are the top "nice to have" skill sets?
- Strong understanding of EIGRP, OSPF and BGP.
- Strong understanding of Network Security.
What education and certifications/licensures are required?
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
- Cisco Routing and Switching, CCNP Routing and Switching, CCDP or related experience.
- 6-8 years data network engineering/design experience.
