Description: Our client is currently seeking a Mainframe Analyst
This role will be fully onsite in San Antonio, TX!
This job will have the following responsibilities:
- Demonstrate strong communication and problem-solving skills, fluency in JCL, and attention to detail
- When jobs (processes in the mainframe) fail or encounter errors, this person will be responsible for investigating and fixing the problem including - determining restart points, file cleanups, and necessary adjustments to file allocations or dispositions
- Understand file structures, file types, space allocations, and how to create and manage generation data sets. This person will need to know how to manage and understand how files are stored, organized, and used on the mainframe (e.g., file types, sizes, and generation data sets).
- Proficient in navigating tools like TSO, CICS, Roscoe, and mainframe scheduling systems, including handling complex job schedules and executing utilities for problem resolution
- Familiarity with change control processes and tools such as JIRA, ServiceNow, mainframe console operations, and directing lower-level operators in tasks
- Ability to multitask, improve documentation and processes, cover shifts when needed, attend meetings, and be on call in a 24/7 environment for problem resolution
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in Mainframe operations
- 5+ years TSO (Time Sharing Option): A tool for accessing the mainframe.
- 5+ years CICS (Customer Information Control System): For managing transactions.
- 5+ years Roscoe: A tool for editing and interacting with mainframe systems.
- 5+ years scheduling systems to ensure jobs/processes run at the right times.
- 5+ years experience with JCL - Job Control Language, Write, understand, and troubleshoot job scripts for the mainframe.
- 3+ years with JIRA or ServiceNow - tracking and implementing system updates or fixes using tools like JIRA or ServiceNow while following established procedures
- Ability to recognize and resolve potential issues
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Solid tenure is a HARD requirement:
o Minimum of 2.5 years per employment
