Job Details
Title: Technical Documentation Writer
Location: Newark, NJ (1 - 2 days a week onsite)
Fulltime
Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact between technical teams and stakeholders to gather and clarify requirements for documentation related to IT projects and systems.
- Analyze complex technical information and convert it into clear, user-friendly documentation that meets the needs of various audiences.
- Collaborate with project managers, developers, and IT teams to ensure that all technical documentation aligns with project timelines and requirements.
- Assist in the creation of process documentation, technical manuals, and operational guides to support IT initiatives.
- Review and update existing documentation to ensure accuracy and consistency with current systems, processes, and technologies.
- Develop and maintain version-controlled repositories of documentation to ensure all stakeholders have access to the most up-to-date resources.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in an IT or software development environment.
- Strong understanding of technical concepts and the ability to simplify complex information for a broad audience.
- Proficiency in documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Confluence, Visio, or similar software.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative documentation platforms.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple documentation projects and deadlines.
- Experience working with IT project management teams to ensure alignment of documentation with project timelines and deliverables.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
- Familiarity with Agile or other project management methodologies is a plus.
