ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Join team to migrate ~600 users from Esri s legacy desktop GIS application (ArcMap) to its modern desktop application (ArcGIS Pro) and/or browser-based WebGIS. We need a full-time contract Business Analyst to help bridge the gap between business stakeholders and IT teams to ensure that business needs are met through effective solutions.
- Partner with business customers and technical staff to define requirements; translate and document recommendations into functional and technical specifications
- Assist the project team in the development of business cases and financial analysis
- Perform analysis of licensing and infrastructure costs based on scenarios developed by the project team
- Plan, create, document, and conduct system testing and implementation activities, ensuring business requirements and functional specifications are implemented effectively and meet business objectives
- Ensure that established quality expectations are met and incorporate functional and non-functional quality measures into requirements, while balancing tradeoffs between usability and performance needs
- Assist the Organizational Change Management (OCM) lead with communication, documentation and training for end users
ESSENTIAL QUALIFCATIONS
- Education: Bachelor s degree in GIS, geography, surveying, engineering, or similar discipline, or equivalent experience is required
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive, relevant IT/GIS experience
- Advanced ability to translate business needs into functional requirements documentation and IT Product technical specifications (business requirement documents, functional requirement documents) as well as produce technical analysis documentation (process flow maps, test and implementation plans)
- Demonstrated experience partnering with subject matter experts and third parties to identify and recommend new GIS solutions or improvements to existing solutions
- Experience designing and driving business process improvement workshops (e.g. Lean events)
- Ability to develop business cases including outcomes, benefits, KPIs and cost/benefit analysis
- Ability to develop specific business and industry domain expertise and knowledge of business roadmap and strategy
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting and visualizing geographic data
- High attention to detail
- Proven ability to operate and effectively communicate while under pressure, as well as the ability to manage a diverse workload and work under time constraints with minimal supervision
- Team-first professional with strong oral and written communication skills, proficient in communicating technical topics to non-technical audiences
- Proficient with the ESRI ArcGIS platform, including ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, Enterprise/Portal, and ArcGIS Online
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerBI for analyzing detailed licensing and usage data
- Familiar with writing T-SQL statements to query and analyze data
- Familiar with Esri product licensing models
