THE WORK
We are seeking a talented and motivated Structural Analyst to join the Dynamic Systems Structures Group. Dynamic Systems Structures is responsible for the structural integrity of rotor systems, blades and transmissions systems. The ideal candidate will work on all stages of the product life cycle from initial design to production and field support performing conceptual, preliminary, and detailed structural analysis.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a talented team responsible for the next generation of vertical lift aircraft.

Responsibilities for this position include:

Perform conceptual, preliminary, and detailed structural analysis of blades, rotors, and transmissions components.
Use classical analysis and finite element software to help design efficient structures
Calculate static Margin of Safety and conduct fatigue analysis to determine component retirement time of metallic and composite structures.
Conduct modal and buckling analysis of components
Perform crack propagation analysis
Conduct thermal analysis
Interact with Design Engineers, Material and Process Engineers, Suppliers, and Test Engineers to drive design to closure
Create structural analysis reports in support of drawing release and certification efforts.

You have a strong foundation in structures, have experience using ANSYS, and possess excellent communication and technical writing skills to help contribute to our teams success.

A level 2 employee is early-career and typically has 1 to 2+ years of professional experience.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelors degree from an accredited college in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or similar technical discipline with 2 years of professional experience; or no experience required with a related Masters degree.

U.S. Citizenship is required due to program requirements.

Desired skills

Capable of managing complex tasks and drive them to successful outcomes
Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills.
Demonstrated leadership in academics, employment or extracurricular activities.
Experience with finite element analysis, preferably ANSYS
Familiar with CATIA V5/V6, 3DX
Ability to create Macros, VB, C++, or other programs to streamline complex engineering tasks.
Ability to conduct structural analysis from a first principles perspective using free body diagram, and classical closed from equations

Ability to work remotely

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $67,400 - $129,300. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement

Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $77,600 - $146,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
