The Digital Modernization Sector has an exciting career opportunity for a in El Segundo, CA to support the US Space Force's Space Systems Command (SSC), Operational Command and Control Acquisition Delta, known as Kobayashi Maru. This role is instrumental in the development and deployment of mission critical software for space defense, space domain awareness, and enabling data services. This position is 80% hands on keyboard tactical engineering and 20% product/team support.

THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)
- Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Management
- Design, deploy, and manage virtual cloud server infrastructures across hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud) such as AWS, Azure, Google, and/or Oracle environments, IaaS, and PaaS.
- Maintain and optimize virtualization platforms, such as VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, or cloud-native virtualization solutions.
- Implement and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation to automate deployments and configurations.
- Cloud Environment Support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provision, maintain, and scale cloud resources in platforms like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Monitor cloud resource utilization, ensuring cost efficiency and scalability.
- Troubleshoot issues and perform root cause analysis to resolve system and application-related problems as well as cloud, virtual, and physical hardware.
- DevSecOps Integration
- Work within a DEVSECOPS framework to ensure infrastructure meets security, compliance, and operational standards.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and integrate infrastructure automation into the development lifecycle.
- Implement containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes, to support microservices architectures.
- Performance Optimization and Monitoring
- Configure and maintain monitoring tools to ensure availability and performance of systems and applications.
- Identify and implement optimizations to improve system efficiency, latency, and uptime.
- Security and Compliance
- Apply security best practices to protect hybrid cloud infrastructures, including identity and access management (IAM), network segmentation, and encryption.
- Assist in audits and compliance initiatives (e.g., RMF, NIST, ISO 27001).
- Collaboration and Support
- Provide tier-2/3 support for escalated issues, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors as needed.
- Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps to support knowledge sharing and team growth.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge-sharing initiatives.
WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications)
- and Possession of a current-active Secret Clearance required
- Certification: Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher certification (e.g., Security+).
- Industry certifications such as, Cloud Certifications : AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer.
- Security Certifications: CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Security+, or GIAC Cloud Security Automation (GCSA).
- DevOps/Automation Certifications: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Terraform Associate, or Docker Certified Associate.
- BS and 4 - 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience in hybrid cloud environments, with hands-on expertise in virtual cloud server infrastructure management.
- Proficiency with virtualization technologies, such as VMware, Hyper-V, or OpenStack.
- Strong knowledge of public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)).
- Experience with IaC tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Understanding of containerization (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with networking concepts, such as VPCs, subnets, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Working knowledge of DevSecOps principles and practices.
Preferred Qualifications, not required.
- Cloud Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer. Security Certifications: CISSP, CEH, GIAC or Cloud Security Automation (GCSA).
- Experience with security frameworks (e.g., RMF, NIST 800-53).
- Knowledge of scripting or programming languages, such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Familiarity with log management and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Datadog, or ELK stack).

- Familiarity with cloud/hybrid cloud computing platforms and their services within various security domains.
- Familiarity in implementing large-scale, complex systems that integrate cloud and on-premises platforms with an understanding of storage, compute, and throughput capabilities.
- Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).) and cloud-native technologies (containers, Kubernetes, serverless computing).
- Knowledge of platform services, middleware, and enterprise integration frameworks.
