Thinking Minds' client is seeking an experienced Project Engineer III with expertise in civil engineering to lead the design and development of a variety of infrastructure projects. This includes municipal engineering, site grading, stormwater detention, roadway improvements, and utility design. The selected candidate will work collaboratively with a team of engineers while managing projects and ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, design, and permitting of diverse civil projects, including roadway and site development projects.
- Oversee and distribute work among a team of engineers, ensuring productivity and adherence to deadlines.
- Independently develop and produce construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Serve as the primary liaison between municipal clients, contractors, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies to ensure seamless project coordination.
- Communicate effectively through written and verbal updates, attending client and team meetings as required.
- Direct and review the production of drawings by CAD technicians and junior engineers.
- Provide construction administration support and coordinate problem-solving during all project phases.
- Maintain a proactive and adaptive mindset, thriving in both team environments and independent roles.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Active Illinois P.E. License is mandatory.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in civil engineering, including site grading, drainage, utility systems, and municipal infrastructure projects.
- Experience managing engineering teams and mentoring junior engineers.
- Familiarity with generating flood study models and reports is a plus.
- Proficient in communicating with municipal clients and regulatory agencies to obtain permits and approvals.
- Strong interpersonal skills, decision-making ability, and problem-solving capabilities.
