Job Details

Duties
  • You will maintain the organizations cybersecurity program, including cybersecurity architecture, requirements, objectives and policies, personnel, and processes and procedures in direct collaboration with the Cyber Security Directorate.
  • You will assist the Information Systems Security Manager by developing policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data.
  • You will conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs.
  • You will participate in network and systems design to ensure implementation of appropriate systems security policies.

  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 722, proficiency level Basic. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
  • Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of all IT services.
  • Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Developing and implementing programs to ensure that systems, network, and data users are aware of, understand, and adhere to systems security policies and procedures.
  • Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Communicating and collaborating with the Command ISSM (CISSM) and Command Security Manager in areas of mutual interest and impact.
  • Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Assessing security events to determine impact and implementing corrective actions.
  • In addition to your experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must also one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band (DS-03) or grade level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Utilizing Information System security policies and constraints; 2) Performing Risk Management Framework tasking; 3) Demonstrating experience with authorization packages in accordance with NIST Specialist Publication 800-53.

    Education
    In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

    Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

    OR

    3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
