We have an exciting opportunity for a Project/Systems Engineer in our Aircraft Systems department for the Quick Reaction Capabilities engineering team. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide systems engineering and technical management for the development, fabrication, testing, integration and maintenance of new or existing systems on GA-ASI, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).
- Support the System Software Conceptual Design, Development, Integration, and Test Process with requirements development, design review support, and testing.
- Support software/hardware investigations for newly develop and fielded systems.
- Perform system analysis, develop system designs, and generate requirements; as well as develop and maintain project plans, estimates, and schedules.
- Represent the organization as the prime technical contact to customers and/or government regulatory agencies.
- Devise new approaches to resolve unusual or complex engineering problems.
- Direct activities of design or technical staff and lead a team of moderately experienced professional staff.
- Troubleshoot conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special material requirements.
- Support the development of test plans and manage the integration, verification and validation of systems through flight test and fielding.
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting in test environments.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment to ensure that deliverables, budget and schedule are met successfully while working with multiple engineering disciplines.
- Manage and communicate status, risks, and action items throughout the program lifecycle.
- Develop and present technical material for engineering reviews and program status meetings.
- Additional duties as required.
Job Qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or four or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Demonstrates a broad understanding of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.
- Must be able to understand and apply new concepts quickly in a fast-paced, evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and determine the appropriate approach at the task level, or with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to complex problems.
- Must have strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with other departments, customers, government representatives, and/or professionals.
- Must have experience with software and hardware requirements development, system design reviews, and testing.
- Network engineering experience and knowledge desired.
- Must be customer focused and able to work on a self-initiated, independent basis or in a team environment.
- Must have ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
- Must have ability to direct system-level design through interconnects and interface control documentation.
- Experience with payload integration, software, datalinks, and computer networking is a plus.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
