Firewall Engineer

This position will be 2 days on site their Washington D.C. or Manassas, VA office.

What You Will Be Doing:
- Manage firewalls, including upgrades, policy administration, and validation.
- Possess knowledge of multiple firewall types: Check Point and Palo Alto.
- Review and implement changes in line with existing firewall policies.
- Update and maintain documentation to ensure it aligns with current procedures.
- Manage and optimize other hardware and software, such as IDS/IPS, URL Filtering, Application Control, Antivirus, and Advanced Malware Detection.
- Be available to work outside regular business hours to support outage resolution, planned maintenance, or upgrades.
- Over five years of experience in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- More than four years of experience configuring and administering carrier-class firewalls, such as Check Point and Palo Alto.
- In-depth understanding of security operations, including firewall rules and security policies.
- Strong networking skills and knowledge of firewall platforms to facilitate quick identification and resolution of issues during incidents and outages.
- Proficiency in packet capture analysis and troubleshooting traffic and latency issues across all OSI layers.
- Excellent customer service skills, with consistent updates provided to leads and management on assigned tasks.
- Enduring curiosity: a relentless desire to learn and solve complex problems.
- Innate passion for challenges: a deep appreciation for the journey and process of mastering skills.
- External drive for proficiency: a strong motivation to excel in consulting, IT, cybersecurity, and industry best practices.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is required. Applicants selected will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive information.
