Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities
What We're Looking For:
Iridium is seeking a Manager, Network Control Specialist who is looking to take an exciting next step in their career. As a Manager, Network Control Specialist you will be in charge of monitoring the Iridium Gateway and remote site equipment to ensure timely outage notification and resolution of issues in a 24x7x365 environment while fully complying with and executing the Gateway (GW) operational policies and procedures. In this role you will be responsible for identifying and autonomously implementing ideas and solutions to support Iridium partners/customers. You will have the responsibility of mentoring a team of Network Control Specialists in addition to directing day-to-day work activities, scheduling, shift coverage, escalations, and coordination with other shift managers and management. This position works in the company office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. For meetings in-person, this position will need to be able stand, walk within the office and climb stairs on occasion.

What You'll Do:
- Foster and develop a highly effective team of Gateway Technical Operators to monitor ground systems and services
- Mentor and train your team by performing regular check-ins, discussing career growth opportunities, giving constructive feedback, and acknowledging performance issues when necessary
- Be responsible for monitoring and testing of Gateway network elements, performing remote maintenance as necessary, producing trending and tracking reports, and advanced troubleshooting of customer trouble tickets
- Coordinate fault resolution with senior personnel and vendor support items
- Manage notification of internal and external parties responding to questions (within scope and in a timely manner) when service-impacting issues occur
- Drive day-to-day work activities of the Network Control Specialists on the shift
Experience & Education Requirements / EEO
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/MIS or related field OR equivalent relevant experience in lieu of degree
- 8+ years of relevant experience in the technical industry, with at least 2 of those years working as a Network Control Specialist and/or network support or similar environment
- Capable of being a strong motivator and source of direction for your team and role modelling commitment to your team's goals
- Have a team-oriented mentality and be able to easily build meaningful relationships with others and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively to those who may be unfamiliar with the topic at hand
- Be able to analyze and understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions and come up with new and unique solutions
- Be self-motivated and possess a high degree of creativity, independence, and resourcefulness
- Have a strong sense of urgency in driving projects to completion and be motivated to achieve outcomes and results
- Can thrive in a dynamic environment and efficiently manage multiple projects for yourself and your team while making sure to meet deadlines

- Technical industry certification in any of the following disciplines: A+, Network+, Linux
- Previous management experience
