In this role, you will join a world class team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers responsible for further development and enhancement of the globally launched Robotic Assisted Surgery platform within the Surgical Operating unit: ;br>

A Day in The Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

Maintain working knowledge of the system design and performance

Learn Software Deployment procedures for all aspects of the robotic platform

Perform root cause analysis and debugging related to system level errors as well as triaging reported defects to identify impacted subsystems (software or hardware) and prioritization

Create and manage tickets related to software defects and integration findings based on root cause analysis and self-identified trends

Provide written disposition and evidence to resolve anomalies generated from integration issues

Provide software support and assistance during usability studies, preclinical labs and/or manufacturing processes

Contribute to development and maintenance of internal use tools and scripts to improve efficiency in development activities

Develop tools and scripts for monitoring system performance, improving utility of logged data, and enhancing debugging

Automate test procedures, data collection and data analysis to reduce reliance on redundant manual activities

Oversee and coordinate tasks related to tool and script development within the integration team member

TECHNICAL SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies - from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 2 years of relevant experience

Fluency in English

Nice to Have

2+ years of experience with Linux, shell scripting, software installation, QNX and/or knowledge of C, C++, Python and SQL

Capability to process and trend data to drive decision making and prioritization

Demonstrated skills in managing priorities and coordinating team activities

Excellent communication skills

Experience working with multiple teams on concurrent, interdependent projects

Prior work experience in system-level product development, full-lifecycle engineering programs and development of product development processes, especially complex electromechanical systems.

Demonstrated understanding of structured product development (requirements-driven engineering, documentation, rigorous verification, etc.), engineering verification test development and execution

Knowledge of relevant technologies including:
  • o Mechatronics / Robotics
  • o Mechanical and electrical interfaces
  • o Communication protocols (Ethernet, I2C, UART, SPI)
  • o Sensors, actuators, controllers
  • o Kinematics of mechanisms
  • o Vision and display systems
  • o Electromechanical devices controlled by software

Understanding of system reliability testing, service support and/or design for manufacturing

Knowledge of medical product R&D and clinical/regulatory process

Requires a Baccalaureate Degree and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience. (For degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A)).

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$150,000.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
