Job Description
Automation Test Engineer
Overview:
Akumen is looking for a QA Tester with a ServiceNow background and automation testing experience, specifically focusing on Automated Test Framework (ATF) development and execution as well as API testing. We use modern design and project management tools such as design thinking, rapid prototyping, and agile development to build and customize solutions that are both user-friendly and effective at meeting their goals. We think of the applications we build as products and aim to ship those products in months instead of years. This position is remote with a requirement of 2-3 days a month onsite in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities:
The QA Tester is responsible for the following:
- Plan and implement testing (e.g., regression, functional, API testing, data validation, system integration, load, or performance tests) for new and existing functionality, with an emphasis on Automated Test Framework (ATF) for ServiceNow applications.
- Work closely with development teams to design testing strategies and integrate automated testing, including API testing and ATF tests, into the development process.
- Plan, create, execute, and automate test cases using ATF and API testing tools, working with business partners, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure high test coverage and automation efficiency.
- Document and analyze test results and recommend corrective action, with particular attention to ATF and API test results for continuous integration and deployment.
- Isolate, reproduce, manage, and maintain defects and test case databases, verify fixes, and ensure ATF and API test cases are updated to reflect system changes.
- Support user acceptance testing conducted by business partners or end users, using ATF and API tests to streamline and enhance testing efforts.
- Conduct exploratory testing and risk analysis for complex features, particularly those spanning across platforms or teams, and incorporate ATF and API testing as part of risk mitigation strategies.
- Identify opportunities to reduce testing time and effort by automating repeatable tests using ATF and API testing frameworks.
- Enhance and maintain the Automated Test Framework (ATF) within the ServiceNow platform, and integrate API testing tools to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
- Write test cases, map out test scenarios, design reusable automated test scripts within ATF and API testing tools, and execute tests daily.
- Work closely with developers, professional services teams, and product owners to define the testing components required to validate requirements against developed software.
- Identify test requirements from specifications, map test case requirements, and design test coverage plans.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or related discipline, or equivalent related experience.
- 3+ years of experience in automation testing, including testing methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Must have experience testing, configuring, and/or customizing applications built on the ServiceNow platform, particularly with Automated Test Framework (ATF) and API testing.
- Experience writing test automation scripts
- Experience designing and implementing test plans, with an emphasis on automated test planning using ATF and API test tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI, or similar).
- Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Puppeteer, Playwright), and understanding of how they complement ATF and API testing within ServiceNow.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify, isolate, and document defects
- Knowledge of agile practices and experience with agile planning tools (e.g., Jira).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to focus on deadlines and deliverables
Clearance Requirement:
Must have Active DoD secret clearance verified in JPAS. Top Secret preferred.
