Description:

Application Services - Data & Analytics provides support for all analytics related applications, services, and processes across the Kaiser enterprise. This role, the System Admin Consultant, provides leadership and guidance for the services and support team across a diverse global workforce. This position will lead service management processes such as incident, problem, change, and service request management and collaborate within and across business, development, infrastructure, and vendor teams, leveraging troubleshooting tools, relationships and best practices. This role specifically acts as an advisor and a leader to our customers and handles complex, repeatable, or escalated cases. As a leader, this role ensures the stability and performance of the production environment by sustaining maintenance and lifecycle management best practices, as well as adherence to KP's change management policies.

Job Summary:

In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position drives the incident and problem management process by resolving complex issues (e.g., root cause analysis, coordinate prevention plan execution) and addressing second level escalations as appropriate.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Practices self-leadership and promotes learning in others by building relationships with cross-functional stakeholders; communicating information and providing advice to drive projects forward; influencing team members within assigned unit; listening and responding to, seeking, and addressing performance feedback; adapting to competing demands and new responsibilities; providing feedback to others, including upward feedback to leadership and mentoring junior team members; creating and executing plans to capitalize on strengths and improve opportunity areas; and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback.
  • Collaborates with technical and project team leaders to resolve system problems and application-specific issues.
  • Communicates with product users and suppliers to share information, identify opportunities, resolve problems, prioritize customer requirements, and maintain continuous improvement through customer feedback.
  • Escalates unresolved or critical issues, risks or problems to system engineers and management.
  • Meets timelines and provides cross-functional resources to drive the delivery of appropriate, sustainable, and prompt solutions.
  • Plans and performs complex system configuration.
  • Manages the stability, availability, and performance of enterprise systems and systems in one or more additional IT domains (e.g., systems, applications, network, databases, storage, security) by performing complex systems analysis to identify problems, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Plans the maintenance, modification, and documentation of applications.
  • Monitors the service of first and second level support for enterprise systems and systems in one or more additional IT domains by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex incidents to minimize system issues.
  • Creates complex documentation of new and existing system configuration and procedural information, and supports others in ensuring system configurations documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Provides complex application-oriented administration and technical support for production and non-production environments.
  • Leads hardware and software changes into environments and one or more additional IT production environments by performing impact analyses of system changes.
  • Develops guidelines to prevent and/or resolve recurring problems.
  • Recommends and executes complex performance tuning and optimization activities.
  • Evaluates new complex application packages and identifies anticipated systems requirements for planning purposes.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years experience in end-to-end application/infrastructure production support.
  • Minimum two (2) years in a leadership role working with IT or operational teams.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Social Science, Education, Business, Health Care or related field and Minimum eight (8) years working in IT or operations. Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Additional Requirements:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years experience in the administration and custom configuration of large off-the-shelf applications or software packages.
  • Five (5) years system administration experience.

  • Customer focus- always keeping the customer in mind, understanding their needs, and ensuring that they are heard
  • Thrive under pressure: being able to stay calm and perform at your best even when there's a lot going on
  • Multi-tasking- managing multiple tasks or projects at the same time without losing focus or missing important details.
  • General infrastructure/database knowledge- good understanding of how infrastructure and databases work is important. It helps with troubleshooting and making connections across various systems.
  • Incident & Problem Management - not just following the processes but digging deep into the why behind issues. It's about root cause analysis and bringing past industry experience to drive effective solutions.
  • Stakeholder communication - handling requests from multiple internal teams, managing those relationships, and ensuring priorities are aligned.
  • Project planning & execution - helping the team stay on track with projects, making sure everything is planned well (especially deployments), and ensuring successful delivery.
  • Team leadership & mentoring - offering guidance to the team on best practices, how to approach different tasks, and helping the team members succeed with their assignments.
  • Support experience delivering IT Application support or services.
