Job Details

THE POSITION
Under general direction, provides lead direction, training, and performs advanced and specialized analytical duties of a professional nature in the design, engineering, enhancement, administration, and maintenance of SBCERA cloud systems and related systems, including developing and modifying scalable architecture to support applications and infrastructure; identifying cloud solutions, incorporating security measures and privacy requirements into cloud hardware, software, and applications; designs controls and processes using audit tools; and performs related duties as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Duties include but are not limited to:


Performs advanced and complex duties of a professional nature in the design, configuration, enhancement, administration, and maintenance of SBCERA cloud systems and related systems, including supporting relevant hybrid cloud technology and applications.
Designs, implements, administers, and supports various cloud technology platforms (Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud, etc.) utilized by SBCERA as well as software as a service (SaaS) applications (M365, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, CoPilot, etc.).
Works with SBCERA staff, trustees, and members to resolve issues related to cloud connectivity and software functionality issues.
Updates applicable cloud system technology licenses, subscriptions, and user management as necessary.
Writes and maintains custom scripts and infrastructure as code (IaC) (PowerShell or similar structured languages) while utilizing the current best cloud automation practices to maintain, administer, and to quickly remediate issues.
Designs, implements, manages, and resolves identity and access management issues (Entra AD, Active Directory, Group Policy, etc.) in a hybrid cloud environment using experience, procedures, and applies industry best practices including security and permissions.
Review system logs and alerts and take immediate appropriate response according to documented procedures and if gaps are found, provide guidance and a strategy to protect SBCERA data and service availability.
Supports and oversees SBCERA backup, recovery, and archiving solutions as required.
Ensures proper IT and data security procedures are always practiced and works with the Cybersecurity group to protect SBCERA data and service availability.
Supports management reporting efforts and metrics, information flow, and process planning.
Ensures actions, support documented processes, and procedures are met or exceed operational Service Level Agreements (SLA) with departments and vendors.
Show initiative and act independently to track and resolve tickets within the SLA, manage multiple priorities, and follow through on projects and tasks to completion by utilizing the IS ticket system.
Acts as liaison between vendors, technical support, and departments with respect to Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure coordination and implementation efforts while applying corrective measures and identifying potential obstacles to success.
Serves as a technical expert within the area of assignment, providing guidance and direction to technical and professional staff while resolving complex problems, participating strategic system development planning as required.
Creates new or updates current standard operating procedures for the Hybrid Cloud environment as new technologies and practices as they become reasonable available.
Writes and maintains comprehensive technical documentation including workflow diagrams, system support specifications, and procedures for all assigned implementations.
Works with the IS Operations Manager to author best practices-based procedures for supporting SBCERA utilized cloud system technologies and in the development of an efficient support model.
Supports the training and skill enhancements of all colleagues as required for cloud system technologies (Amazon Web Services / Azure / M365), including conducting training presentations for all staff as assigned.
Conducts research and stays current on new trends as well as recommends and presents new technologies to improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency of IS Operations.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Knowledge of:

Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, EntraAD, Amazon Web Services, and related technologies.
On-premise and Cloud data storage technologies and storage protocols.
Cloud Infrastructure in the support of AI technologies.
User accounts and user licenses through the M365 admin center in the Microsoft cloud platform or Windows PowerShell cmdlets.

Advanced methods and techniques of analyzing business processes and developing solutions.
Advanced principles and functions of core server platforms and operating systems, including Active Directory, and related technologies.
Development of utility programs and shell scripts.
Methods and techniques of evaluating technology products for potential modification to meet business specifications.
Methods and techniques of designing and coordinating information technology testing processes, including security vulnerability and penetration testing.
Industry best practices of data center virtualization, management, and controls.
Disaster recovery concepts.
Methods and techniques of conducting research and technical problem-solving.
Principles and practices of producing effective technical documentation.
Techniques for providing a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with the public, vendors, contractors, and SBCERA staff.
The structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar in both daily professional communications and technical writing efforts. Ability to:

Administer and maintain centralized directory, file, and print services.
Manage client/server user permissions and accounts.
Enforce server security policies and procedures using account, directory, and file rights filters.
Develop and implement testing models.
Evaluate, install, test, and implement new servers and server operating systems.
Install new versions, releases, or maintenance levels of existing server operating systems and related components through centralized resources.
Coordinate activities with vendors, clients, and staff.
Collaborate with colleagues in developing and documenting process workflows, applications specifications, and models.
Understand complex information technology systems and issues.
Prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, documentation, and other written material.
Make technical oral presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.

Education, Experience and License/Certificate:
A combination of education, experience and license/certificate that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Education: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field; possession of one or more approved nationally recognized industry-specific technology certifications may be substituted for some or all of the education. AND Experience: Four (4) years of professional experience developing network and cloud infrastructure for the development and administration of enterprise or customized information technology systems; Substitution of Experience for Education: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four (4) years. Desired certifications include but are not limited to: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements: A valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.

Hybrid/Telework and Flexible Work Schedule: This position may be eligible for a hybrid working schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely.
